Why not consider using an ‘out of house’ Health and Safety Training Managed Service?

Since it’s not always a good use of their resources, most companies do not have the necessary in-house capability to fully manage Health and Safety training. Yet the consequences (i.e. HSE criminal prosecutions and civil claims by individuals) , as a result of major accidents and incidents due to a failure to provide adequate training, are potentially high and costly.

We can help you by providing a full remote training management support function to assist you in the management of your Health and Safety training requirements. Our full Health and Safety Training Managed Service © includes the following

  • Full management and administration of HSE training arrangements.
  • Legal Register.
  • Roles and Responsibilities Register.
  • Competency Profiles and Training Plan.
  • Health and Safety Training Database.
  • Management Statistics and Analysis Reports.
  • Health and Safety Certified Training.
  • Training Compliance Audit Reports.
  • Financial Costing and Management.
  • Health and Safety Training Consultant Support Help Line.
  • Discounted Health and Safety Courses.
  • Health and Safety in-house Promotions.
  • Health and Safety Training Workshops.
  • Guidance on how to Reduce your HSE Training Budget.
  • Train the Trainer Programmes.

The following provides examples of companies who would benefit from Paradigm’s Health and Safety Training Managed Service ©

Case study 1 - Large Petrochemical Plant

  • A perception that they are always in fire fighting mode – (Time poor).
  • Relatively high spend on HSE training.
  • Poorly coordinated training program.
  • No real linkage to business activities and risk.
  • Lack of a coordinated training plan.
  • Unclear what training to provide to whom, why and when.
  • Very little interface with the current training providers.
  • No periodical review of the training delivered or training provider’s level of service.

Main issues - Not in control of HSE training or spend - Not covering their risk - little value or return on investment.

Utilising Paradigm’s Health and Safety Training Managed Service © wouldn’t cost this organisation any more money and would offer a cost effective solution to the issues identified.

Case study 2 - Small Manufacturing Business

  • Do not provide any quote “Elf and Safety” training - cannot see the point.
  • Poor staff retention rate.
  • Comparatively high number of ‘minor’ accidents and incidents.
  • Currently dealing with steady trickle of compensation claims.

Main issues – Company out of compliance and at risk of a potential for HSE criminal prosecutions and further civil claims - Higher than normal insurance premiums - Unhealthy culture and mindset.

Utilising Paradigm’s Health and Safety Training Managed Service © wouldn’t cost this organisation as much as their current outlay for compensation claims and will help them become compliant.

Case study 3 – Medium Size Fabrication Company wishing to secure contracts in the offshore wind farm sector

  • A reasonable amount spent on training.
  • Want to demonstrate compliance as part of the agenda to secure new and bigger contracts.
  • Not impressed with the quality of the current training provider.
  • Training hasn’t provided transferable knowledge or a positive change in people’s behaviour in the work place.

Main issues - Leadership accepting of the tick box compliance mentality - Poor quality training provider - Not realising the value for their money.

Utilising Paradigm’s Health and Safety Training Managed Service © would be a net cost for this company. The real benefit and value however would be the focus on competency and workplace behaviour at all levels.

When an organisation’s culture is healthy, the activities of employees at every level contribute to a platform on which safety and other critical business performance can be built. A step change in culture for this business will aid them with their pursuit of major contracts in the Offshore and wind farm industries.
